Bottle Swap Collabo Part 3: Giffard Banane du Bresil


Pratfall

1 1/2 oz Blended Scotch (ideally on the peaty side) {Mackinlay Shackleton]
3/4 oz Banana Liqueur [Giffard]
1/2 oz Maple Syrup
1/4 oz Apricot liqueur [Rothman and Winter]

Stir with ice, strain into an ice filled rocks glass. Garnish with banana wedge.


About a year and a half ago, I teamed up with Katie from Garnish Blog for a series of bottle swap posts. To refresh your memory, the idea is we each buy a different bottle, trade half, and make some drinks. Last time we did the King’s Ginger and Ancho Reyes. It was such a blast, we decided to do it again with two more bottles. As luck would have it, shortly after we made the trade, Katie announced she was pregnant. So we put the bottle swap series on hold until she was off the wagon again. Now that she’s officially a mom, it’s time for the third Bottle Swap intallment, starring Giffard Banane du Bresil. Wedding Favor


Arts & Sciences

1 1/4 oz Rye Whiskey <Rittenhouse>
1 oz Apple Cider
1/2 oz Benedictine
1/4 oz Cointreau
1/8 oz (1 barspoon) Maple Syrup
Few dashes Angostura Bitters

Shake ingredients with ice, strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.  Garnish with an apple fan.


Two years ago this past Tuesday, two of my good friends got married.  We’ve been friends for almost 10 years, and shared many a drink at each other’s houses or out on the town.  It wasn’t a huge surprise when they asked me to create a drink for their rehearsal dinner, despite the fact I hadn’t even started this blog yet.  But it was a big responsibility, one that I was excited to take on.

Mixology Monday CXI – Geekin’ Out


Alkali Lake

2 oz Blended Scotch
1/4 oz Fernet Branca
1/4 oz Maple Syrup
Angostura Bitters
Peychaud’s Bitters
3 Blueberries

Muddle the blueberries and bitters in a mixing glass.  Add the remaining ingredients and stir with ice.  Strain into an empty rocks glass.  Garnish with a blueberry and lemon claw.


mxmologo     This month’s mixology monday is for all the obsessives out there.  Beca at The Shrubbery recognizes that people like to obsess over many things, not just cocktails.  Her challenge is taking that same passion and translating it into a drink, showing that nerdiness doesn’t stop at the bar.  She goes on to define a nerdy pursuit as …”anything from or related to science, science fiction, fantasy, video games, role playing games/characters, or comics”.
